Boys HS Rankings
12th Hoophall West features new eight-team boys tournament format, six-team round-robin showcase from January 2-4 in Arizona
PHOENIX – When the Blue Star Media Elite 25 boys’ basketball rankings are released later this month, at least a dozen teams will venture to the Valley of the Sun for a special event in January.
The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Thursday, Oct. 24 the field of teams and game schedule for the 2025 Hoophall West, an annual high school basketball showcase now in its 12th year. The event will be held at Highland High School in nearby Gilbert from Thursday, Jan. 2 to Saturday, Jan. 4, and is joined by the newly created Nike Tournament of Champions for boys’ teams that replicates the very popular high school girls tournament played each December in Mesa.
For the first time, Hoophall West will feature an eight-team tournament, a six-team round-robin style showcase, four Nike Elite Youth Scholastic League (EYSL) games, and two showcase games featuring four of the top teams in the country.
“We have been proud to bring the nation’s top talent to the desert for the last 12 years,” said John L. Doleva, President & CEO of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. “The introduction of the tournament and strengthening the competition in our round-robin and EYSL showcases helps us usher Hoophall West into a new era as we look to consistently provide fans in the valley with high-level matchups you won’t find anywhere else. We are happy to collaborate with the Nike Tournament of Champions to create a large festival of high school basketball in the Phoenix area.”
Several teams from the Elite 25 preseason rankings and traditional powers will be in attendance in a showcase atmosphere.
Tickets for the 2025 Hoophall West are on sale.
