Rising Blue Star nationals

CINCINNATI, Ohio—The NCAA may build a break into their July recruiting calendar but that doesn’t mean that there’s still not some great basketball to be found.  For the third consecutive year USJN presented an opportunity for up and coming talent to take the floor between the viewing periods by way of the Rising Blue Star Nationals.  This year 43 teams with players from nine different states took to the six courts of Sports Plus in northern Cincinnati for two days of competitive basketball.  When all was said and done three teams claimed titles and some promising young players had their chance on the big stage in front of some of the top evaluators in club basketball.

Rising Blue Star nationals, Cincinnati's Finest

Cincinnati’s Finest emerged on top of the 14/15 Division with their final round win over the Dayton Lady Hoopstars. The hardware for the 13’s went back to Indiana with MBA Select as they got by the Toledo Focus to seal up bragging rights. The youngest bracket featured the Illinois Lady Lightning holding off a comeback by an Indiana Faith squad in their championship match up to claim the title.

Any honest recruiter, evaluator or media member will tell you that there’s nothing they enjoy more than seeing that next group of players on the horizon of our game.  Plenty of promising young talent was in the gym last weekend, some we’ve seen already and a few just beginning to make their mark.  While there were many more standouts than we could possibly include, here are a few of the performers who stood out in Cincinnati.  Keep in mind at these young ages heights and positions are going to change over time as these athletes grow and evolve in their game.
