Texas A & M wound up with the highest ranked recruiting class in the country.
But the accomplishment did not come without controversy with critics claiming the Aggies landed the best class in school history by paying players under the table or using NIL money to romance players to the College Station campus
It didn’t take Aggies’ coach Jimbo /Fisher long to fire back.
“The $30 million deal is a joke,” he said. “This thing that there’s some fund out there, and it was written on BroBible by some guy named Sliced Bread and all of a sudden the country believes it, it’s a joke,” Fisher told reporters. “The people who wanted to make comments on it have no idea what’s going on. It’s insulting to the players who come here and the people around us.”
Fisher’s comments were a reaction to a post on the website citing an Oklahoma message board poser claiming the Aggies pulled $30 million together to sign the class. He got one piece of information wrong– the message board was named Sliced Bread and the poster was BroBible.
No one would have noticed until a Notre Dame vice president tweeted the link in January when A & M emerged as the No. 1 ranked class. The Aggies solidified their ranking when they signed five-star defensive lineman Shemar Stewart.
“It’s insulting to our staff, how hard we work, to how we do things, and it’s insulting to Texas A & M because there ain’t no better place to go to school and play ball,” Fisher claimed. “If you don’t like where we’re coming from, get used to it. All right? We’re not going anywhere.”
Welcome to the SEC where every day is an armed race.
Texas A & M beat out Alabama and Georgia, signing the N0. 1 defensive lineman Walter Nolen, the No. 1 tight end Jake Johnson, No. 2 wide receiver Evan Stewart No. 2 quarterback Conner Weigman, No. 3 interior lineman Kam Dewberry and No. 4 cornerback Denver Harris, The Aggies signed a total of seven five= star prospects
Fisher didn’t stop there, ripping into Old Miss coach Lane Kiffin, who joked A & M should have incurred a luxury tax. based on how much they alleged pay the class. “To have coaches in our league say it, clown acts” he said. “Irresponsible as hell. The guys griping about NIL and transfer portal are using it the most. That’s the ironic part. it’s a joke. It pisses me off.”
Ole Miss signed the second- best transfer class, featuring eight prospects rated as blue-chip prospects, but finished 20 spots lower than the Aggies in the class rankings.
