Dybantsa earns MVP honors as USA Men’s National Team beats Germany for gold at FIBA U19 World Cup

LAUSANNE, Switzerland – The Americans were as good as gold on Sunday.

The USA Basketball Men’s U19 National Team completed its redemption arc, defeating Germany 109-76 in the gold medal game at the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup and capturing their ninth title in event history.

A.J. Dybantsa was named the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup MVP, while both Dybantsa and Mikel Brown Jr. were named to the All-Star Five of the event.

Germany controlled the matchup early, jumping out to an 11-5 lead with 5:30 left in the opening period. The U.S. battled back and the quarter ended with both sides trading baskets. After 10 minutes, the USA led 24-23 as Tyran Stokes put up 6 points coming off the bench. The U.S. finished strong, taking a comfortable 109-76 victory and winning their ninth U19 gold medal in style.

“I’m just so proud of the guys,” head coach Tommy Lloyd said. “Incredible effort and they were really consistent over this three-week period. It feels like we just keep getting better. It’s one of those things where you’re happy with the result but you wish the process was just starting again with these guys because they’re a special group.”
