LEXINGTON, Ky.–The annual Run 4 Roses Classic helped kick off the July recruiting period in the Bluegrass State. Over 260 teams participated in the event based out of the Kentucky Basketball Academy that saw in excess of 250 college coaches in the house to check out the action. In addition to the KBA, seven additional venues played host to the tournament.
The Run 4 Roses offered up a top notch group of point guards. Khadiazea Sanders (Baylor Basketball-Momence, IL) led the way. She exhibited quickness, breakdown ball handling skills and tenacious defense. Sanders demonstrated an ability to get by anyone and the ability to finish with a teardrop or the pull up. She definitely will be a premier point guard at the next level. Taylor Johnson (Capital City Stars-Pickerington, OH) is a big point guard with a nice step back move. Her length allows her to defend quicker guards. Naomi Davenport (Cincy Angels-Cincinnati, OH) was one of the biggest point guard in the tournament. Being 6-0 with her skills sets her apart from the competition. Don’t fall asleep on Victoria Morris (Cincy Lady Tigers-Cincinnati, OH), Nicole Konieczny (Hoosier Premier Red-LaPorte, IN), Sydney Shelton (KY Premier-Greenfield, KY) or Shawnisa McCullum(MD Lady Shooting Stars-Perry Hall-2017). High profile LaShanna Higgs(CY Fair-Round Rock, TX) was on hand as well.
There were numerous others that were impressive in the 2015 class:
Reauna Clever (KY Premier-Elizabethtown, LY) – Showed great athletic ability at times…Would like to see her dominate more
Kiah Gilleston (NY New Heights-Menden, CT) – Does it all…Terrific pull up…Plays inside or out
Hayley Duren (Tampa Thunder-Davie, FL) – Lefty – Offers a lot of diversity
Many underclasswomen represented themselves well, but here are only a few:
Monique Jones (FCF Ballers-Chester, VA-2017) – Nice handle…Ability to score
Erin Boley (KY Premier-Hodgeville, KY-2016) – Highly regarded…Presents problems for the defense…Has both length and perimeter skills
Raven Farley (NJ Sparks Gold-Elizabeth, NJ-2017) – Young player…Special skill set
Kaira Coomber (IL Pizzaz-Forrest, IL-2016) – Impressive handles…Has the ability to see the floor
Makayla Pippin (MD Shooting Stars-Severn, MD – 2018) – Unbelievable athlete…Strong post up ability
