Day 2 a lot easier for Team USA in U17 Worlds

 Life got a lot easier for Team USA in Day 2 of the U17 World Championship competition in Dubai.

  The Americans, who held off a dnagerous Greece team in the tournament opener, rolled a a 99-56 victory over Angola Saturday to increase their record to 2-0 in pool play.

All 12 players on Don Showalter’s roster scored during the blowout, offering more proof Team USA has the best depthof any team in the brackets. Forward Harry Giles, a 6-9 juniorfrom Wesleyan Christian in Winston-Salem, N.C. led the way with 14 points and six steals, playing the at the top of the team’s lethal full court press, which limited Angola (1-1) to just 20 percent shooting and forced 28 turnovers.

  Junior wing Terrence Furguslon from Prime Prep in Flower Mound, Tex. came off the bench to score 13 points while 6-9 junor guard Jayson Tatum from St. Louis Chaminade added 10.

  Diamond Stone, a 6-10 senior center from Dominican in Milwaukee, Wis. was once again a force inside, going off for 8 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.

  Center Silvio de Sousa led Angola with 17 points. Forward Joao Jungo also added 13 points while forward Bruno Fernando and forward Valdir Manuel had 12 points each.

  Team USA will finish up pool play Monday against the Phillipines (0-2).
