The Blue Star Basketball Fall Showcase was held last weekend at Rutgers Prep High School in Somerset N.J. A total of 80 players represented six different states over the course of the event. Here is a sampling of just a few of the showcase’s top players.
Deja Wentz – 2019 – PG- N.Y. – Deja provided a glimpse of NYC’s point guard future. Deja played with poise beyond her years as she consistently broke pressure with the calmness of a veteran. With a strong build, tight handle and a high basketball IQ, she provided her team with a chance to score each possession.
Alissa Alston- 2016 – PG – Conn. – Alston has electrifying speed, great on ball defense, pinpoint passing and the will and ability to push tempo. Offensively she gets to the basket with authority and finishes when she gets there. Extremely disruptive defensively, she was a headache for everyone she pressured all night.
Jahsyni Knight – 2018 – PG – N.J. – Entering her freshman year and playing for legendary Rutgers Prep coach Mary Klinger, Knight will be getting taught by one of Rutgers all-time great guards. Offensively she can lead the break and deliver perfectly timed passes for easy buckets. Her ability to get into the lane and finish with floaters is an effective weapon against pressure. She’s developing confidence in her outside shooting ability, has good form and a quick release plus her decision making is top notch. Defensively Knight plays the passing lanes well and her speed allows her to cover even the quickest players baseline to baseline.
Danielle Cosgrove – 6’3 – 2018 – Post – N.Y. – Cosgrove showed her array of post moves and an ability to finish with both hands. Her solid build enables her to battle for low post position with successful results. She possesses good hands and outstanding footwork for such a young player.
Alisha Kebbe – 5’10 – 2016 – Guard – Pa. – Kebbe is an explosive leaper who will wow you grabbing one handed rebounds and taking it full court to finish. The ability to shoot the three ball along with a killer and very accurate step back makes her very effective offensively. A good handle and a strong build provides everything it takes to be successful at the BCS level.

Kamiah Smalls – 5’10 – 2016 – Pa. – Big guard who does it all
Lauren McPeak – 2018 – N.Y. – Young guard who plays with poise
Jayla Jones-Pack – 6’3 – 2016 – N.Y. – BSC level post player, great frame
Sydney Zambrotta – 5’9 – 2016 – N.Y. – Tough lefty with good range
Andra Espinosa Hunter – 5’11 – 2017 – N.Y. – Clearly one of the countries top 2017 prospects…Deep range
Brittany Garner – 6’3 – 2018 – Post – N.J. – Possesses the frame and ability to play at the highest level
