ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Beach season may have to wait just a little bit longer, but club basketball season is in full swing as teams descended upon the “Vegas of the East” for the second NCAA evaluation weekend. With many talented teams up and down the card, the 2019 Atlantic City Showcase was a safe bet for a hoops jackpot. Sunday’s Championship and Consolation match-ups in particular featured some highly contested, exciting games that came down to the wire.
Below is just a small sample of the many great players we evaluated last weekend. As always, the NCAA D-I calendar may be on break until July, but Blue Star Media will continue to scour the world for the best girls basketball has to offer.
Tabitha Amanze – 2022 – 6-4 – Forward – NJ Demons East – Highly active in and around the paint…Nice job posting up…Can catch plenty of basketballs big hands…Shot challenger defensively…Will face up and drive from the perimeter
Julie Bahati – 2023 – 6-1 – Forward – Springfield Ballers – Big time athletic tools…Faces up and goes to work from the high post…Gets to rim with regularity…Can get up into the grill of ball handlers defensively…A problem for opponents
Mikayla Blakes – 2023 – 5-7 – Guard – Jersey Cardinals Klinger – Fluid and smooth with the ball…Strong and intent on the handle…Does a nice job drawing and handling contact…Not afraid to give the ball up or pass ahead in transition…Shooting the three already
Zoe Brooks – 2023 – 5-9 – Guard – NJ Sparks 2023 – Standout performer…Different…Bully build with nice handles…High end physical gifts…Hard to stop her attacks…Pulls up for three…Interesting potential
Jalyn Brown – 2022 – 6-1 – Point Guard/Guard – Lady Prime Marissa Coleman – Already on the radar…Long frame starting to fill out…High level gear off the bounce…Sets up her attack nicely with hesitation and shake…Gets her fair share of rebounds…Will shoot the ball from different distances…Makes plays defensively
Meghan Cahalan – 2022 – 6-3 – Post – Team Rio 16U – Sets a good ball screen…Showed ability to roll or slip…Sees the floor well…Passes on the move in crowded areas…Lots of offensive boards and putbacks…Headed in the right direction
Gia Cooke – 2022 – 5-8 – Point Guard – GTS Fusion 17U – Exciting lead guard…Does some really nice things in transition…Pushes things to a fast tempo…Quickness plus hangtime…Already establishing herself
Andrea Daley – 2021 – 5-11 – Guard/Forward – Miami Suns Team Larkins – Drove it into the lane…Athletic tools are evident…Will go to work in the lane…Gets up…Gets the basketball out of the air
Kirah Dandridge – 2022 – 5-10 – Point Guard/Guard – Lady Prime Marissa Coleman – Strong…Physical style combo…Changes direction quick and easy…Explosion to her game…Can get hot and produce
Madigan Fitzpatrick – 2024 – 5-8 – Point Guard/Guard – Maine Firecrackers – Good size at her position and age…Handles the ball with authority…Scored off the drive…Hit the three…Shot is advanced overall…Good wingspan

Siobhan Ryan – 2020 – 6-0 – Guard – I-90 Elite 2020 – Combination of size and skills with the ball…Length helps her pull down rebounds…Ball handling and three point shooting capabilities are well above average
Yirsy Queliz – 2023 – 5-5 – Point Guard – MCW Starz 2023 – Slick young point…Fast handles and a good decision maker…Handled traps and pressure well…Can make plays defensively

Delaney Thomas – 2023 – 6-2 – Forward – GTS Fusion 15U – Powers through bodies and arms inside to finish strong around the rim…Impact rebounder…Showed the ability to use either hand on lay ups
Willo Thomas – 2021 – 6-1 – Guard/Forward – Canada Elite 16U – Athletic beast on the boards…Will take it on her own…Wants to get to the rim…Nice things in the screen and roll game
Kadidia Toure – 2022 – 6-1 – Forward – Germantown Lady Panthers 16U – Continues to grow and mature physically and as a player…Handling the ball with ease…Distributing some nifty scoop passes…Scored easily on the block…Grown woman on the boards
Caileigh Walsh – 2021 – 6-3 – Forward – NJ Sparks Hines-Allen EYBL – Mobility at this size…Not afraid to knock down the three ball…Can finish in the paint
Taylor Webster – 2020 – 5-11 – Guard – MD Lady Terps 17U – Speedy driver from the wing…Gets to the rim at will at times…Will pull plenty of rebounds…Quick up again with the put back…Hitting the three ball some…Perimeter game work is evident
Travis Ponton first joined the Blue Star family in 2016, and brings with him a decade of women's basketball coaching experience across multiple levels. A 2018 WBCA Thirty Under 30 Award recipient, his most recent stint was on the bench as an Assistant Coach at LIU Brooklyn. He's also served on the staff at Loyola University, Charleston Southern, Southeastern Louisiana University, and Mount St. Mary's. As a successful high school coach for four years in Virginia, Ponton had a hand in helping over 30 athletes take their game to the college level. With a degree in Journalism from Radford University, he has also previously worked with WTVR/CBS 6 Television in Richmond. Ponton still calls central Virginia home.
