Blue Chip Pre-Season Challenge

RICHMOND, Va. – The Greater Richmond Convention Center housed this year’s Blue Chip Pre-Season Challenge.  118 top New England and Middle Atlantic teams competed in the Pre- Season Challenge Division and 12 at Center Court.  Over 100 college coaches and scouts watched the 10 courts closely, providing ample opportunity for each player to be evaluated or seen. 

Both Divisions featured many up and coming talents as well as unsigned seniors who competed hard. All players worked to prove that they would be a welcomed addition to the many college’s available rosters. 

Standouts from the 2013 Class

Egle Zeinyte(Maine Waves)- quick to run the floor, get into the paint, and has a knack for scoring inside as well as ability to knock down the outside shot. 

Kayla Grimme (PA Pride) known for her aggressiveness and willing to bang inside drew a lot of attention from the sidelines. 

Brianna Mann (CT Premier White) showed college coaches she can be a contributor whether it is inside the paint or out on the perimeter. 

Janaysia James (FBC Defenders) is athletic and offers a post up, drive from the perimeter or can also hit the occasional 3 point shot.

Essence Casey (LI Renegades Blue) gets her work done by assisting a team mate or using the mid range game to score.

Caity Kuhnen (Crystal City Stars) has good size for a shooting guard and can hit the open shot.

Anna Ross   5’8   PG/G   (Unity Wildcats):   Takes it strong.  Good off screens.  Creates to score and knock down the outside shot.

Kylie Murphree   5’10   PG   (ABC Lady Bulldogs):   Penetrate and pass.  Hit the open shot.  Makes good decisions.

Rebecca Ford   6’2   C   (Lady Vikes):   Posts strong.  Good hand.  Catches and has a hook shot.

Carly Monzzo   5’11   G/F   (Lady Runnin Rebels):   Shooter.  Passer.  Active on defense.

Sammy Stipa   5’6   PG/G   (Lady Runnin Rebels):   Strong build.  Gets to the FT Line.  Handles.  Pull up.

Olivia Smith    6’2   F    (Maine Firecrackers):   Long.  Good at the top of a press.  Turnaround shooter.

Ashley Storey   6’2   F   (Maine Firecrackers):    Rebounder.  Good timing. Aggressive on put back.

Victoria Lux    6’1   F   (Maine Firecrackers):   Strong.   Banger.  Uses the dribble for power.

Kiana  Patterson   5’4   PG/G   (Albany Capitals Elite):   Quick.  Elevates.  Can get by and hit the “3”.

Abby Giacone   6’0   G/F   (Albany Capitals Elite 15):   Inside out drive by.  Off the dribble scorer.

Amber Wilson         G/F        (Coaches Choice Lightening): Smooth and athletic.

Jessica George   5’8   G   (Lady Pearls):  Quick. Uses slider and jump stop move to get to the rim.

Catilin Conroy   6’4   C   (Lady Runnin Rebels Red):  Rolls hard off the pick and roll. Hit’s the “3”. Boxes.

Meagan Eripret   6’3   C   (Lehigh Valley Fever):  Good hands.  Face up shooter.  FT line extended scorer.

Jillian Libby   5’11   PG/G   (Maine Wave):  Handles well.  See’s the floor well.

Amber Jones   5’7   G   (Weschester Hoopers):  Pushes the ball.  Athletic.  Smooth.

Asjha White   5’9   G   (Westchester Hoopers): Very fast athlete.  Has good timing.

Twice ranked as one of the top 25 Division I assistant coaches in the game by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), he logged 25 years of college coaching experience at Memphis State, Cincinnati, Arizona State, Western Kentucky and Washington State. Lewis serves as a member of the prestigious McDonald’s All-American selection committee as well as the Naismith College Player and Coach of the Year committees.
