Emily Engstler Syracuse

Syracuse University added a cornerstone to their 2018 signing class with the commitment of highly regarded swing play Emily Engstler.  The versatile 6-2 New York native chose Coach Hillsman and the Orange over the Buckeyes of Ohio State and the Hurricanes from the University of Miami.

Engstler, who is ranked No. 11 on the Blue Star Report class of 2018 list, enters her final year at St. Francis prep coming off a junior campaign that saw her post a double-double average of 19 points per game combined with 15.7 boards.  Just for good measure she also contributed 5.9 blocks per outing on the other end of the floor.

Few players combine the size and skill set that the future Orange standout brings to the floor.  With the size to play on the interior and the ballskills and passing to excel on the perimeter she challenges virtually any defensive match-up.  An effective threat from deep she can also create and develop her own looks off the dribble.  The instincts are there to find her teammates both off penetration as well as on the break which she capably can handle the ball coast to coast.  Engstler is a fierce competitor and plays with an edge that should suit her well at the next level.
