EuroBasket 2015 pulls out of Ukraine

   The political turmoil and security issues in Urkraine has led to a decisioin by the Board of FIBA to relocated EuroBasketball 2015 to a new destination.

 A new bidding process will now be opened to all European federations inviting single or multi-country bids.
   All interested parties will have to be present the required official documentation and guarantees by July 31.
   The Board did take took note of the efforts made by the Ukranian Federation and the country’s giant strides in recent years, including a sixth-place finish at EuroBasketball 2013 and their particiaption in the this year’s World Cup. There is the possiblity the country should host EuroBaksetball 2017 in tensions deescalate.
    A decision on the new EuroBasket 2015 hosts is expected by 30 September 2014 at the latest. EuroBasket 2015 will take place from Sept. 5-20 still feature 24 teams.
