FIELD OF DREAMS: City of Palms Classic releases talented team listing for holiday tournament; Blue Star Media Elite 25 defending champions Montverde Academy (FL) are headliners

FORT MYERS, Fla. – When it comes to holiday tournament basketball, the City of Palms Classic stands alone.

The 51^st annual boys tournament field was announced on August 19 and there are several teams that surely will land in the Blue Star Media Elite 25 preseason rankings when they are released this fall.

Blue Star Media’s likely No. 1 and defending national champions, Montverde (Fla.) Academy, headlines the 25-team field. The City of Palms will take place at Suncoast Credit Union Arena from Dec. 18-23.

Blue Star Media Elite 25 preseason teams headed to Southwest Florida include Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.), Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), St. Joseph (Santa Maria, Calif.), IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), Grayson (Loganville, Ga.), Oak Ridge (Orlando, Fla.), Millenium (Goodyear, Ariz.), La Lumiere School (La Porte, Ind.), Faith Family (Dallas), Dynamic Prep (Irving, Texas), Bullis School (Potomac, Md.), Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.) and Columbus (Miami).

Annually, the COPC is chock full of future NBA players and high Division I ranked talent.

The Montverde Eagles are the defending COPC champions.
