NCAA College Football

The College Football Playoff selection committee has chosen Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and as the four teams to play for the national championship.

Top=ranked Georgia (13-0) will play Ohio State (11-1) at 4 p,m Dec. 31 n Atlanta. Second-ranked Michigan (13-0) will play TCU (12-1) at 8 that night in Atlanta.
The committee, which had ranked TCU third in last week’s poll, kept them on that line despite a 31-28 overtime loss to Kansas State in the Big 12 title game at Arlington.
Alabama, a 10-2 team that had two last second losses to Tennessee and LSU on the road, was the odd team out at 5.
Ohio State seemed resigned to its fate after a loss to Michigan two weeks ago. But all of that changed once Utah started to pour it on USC Friday night in the Pac-12 title game at Vegas.  .
“It’s almost like a second lease on life,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. hard to explain range of emotion. couple days ago season in life support now two game season ahead of us. life alays about opportunity. gerat opportunity gonh yto play defending national champions in Atlanta.
‘Selection committee chairman Boo Corrigan said one of the major factors in selecting Ohio State over Alabama was the quality of victories. “They had big wins over Notre Dame at Penn State on the road,” he said. “Compare that to win sover Texas and Mississippi State,” he claimed.
Corrigan said the committee chose to keep TCU at three ahead of Ohio State. TCU was more  balanced defensively in the final five games and thehy had an impressive comeback against Kansa State.
He claimed rematch between Michigan and Ohio State was never discussed. “Our goal was to get the Top four teams ranked,” Corrigan claimed.
TCU was the second team to go from unranked to the CFP playoff. Dykes admitted there was some nerves after the K-State loss but he had faith in the committee   think we passed the smell test,” he said. “I think they respected the games we played against Top 36 competition never know until you know.”
