BENSALEM, Pa. – The latest Blue Star Media Elite 25 boys’ basketball rankings are based on games, with a heavy dose of holiday tournaments, prior to Christmas. There are five additions but much of a major shuffle since the preseason rankings.

Blue Star Media Elite 25 boys’ basketball rankings, Dec. 26, 2015

1. Findlay Prep, Henderson, Nev. (13-0)

Previous rank: 1.

Low-down: The Pilots are on cruise control as they headed into the Christmas break. The schedule picks up again on Dec. 29 at O’Gorman (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and again on Jan. 4 vs. No. 7 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.)

2. DeMatha, Hyattsville, Md. (7-0)

Previous:4.

Low-down: The Stags have a stiff test playing in the Les Schwab Invitational in Oregon, where No. 3 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) could await in the final.

3. Oak Hill Academy, Mouth of Wilson, Va. (16-1)

Previous: 2.

Low-down: The Warriors won the Chick-fil-A Classic National Division title in Columbia, S.C., defeating No. 12 Huntington (W.Va.) Prep, 93-85, in overtime. Junior G TyShon Alexander, a Creighton recruit, was named MVP.

4. Chino Hills, Calif. (9-0)

Previous: 12.

Low-down: Won the 43rd Culligan City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla., defeating No. 21 Patrick School (Elizabeth, N.J.), 66-60, OT, in the final. UCLA-bound Lonzo Ball was named MVP.

5. Montverde (Fla.) Academy (10-1)

Previous: 3.

Low-down: The Eagles dropped a rare December game at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. They travel to the prestigious Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina this week.

6. Mater Dei, Santa Ana, Calif. (11-0)

Previous: Not ranked.

Low-down: It’s rare when the Monarchs don’t start in the Elite 25 rankings but after a month they are now added. They already won three tournaments close to home but have stern tests ahead at the Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

7. Sierra Canyon School, Chatsworth, Calif. (9-1)

Previous: 5.

Low-down: Won Iolani Classic in Honolulu. After an opening night loss, the Trailblazers are surging.

8. La Lumiere School, La Porte, Ind. (12-1)

Previous: 6.

Low-down: The Lakers advanced to the title game of the Iolani Classic but fell to then-No. 5 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.), 53-48.

9. Atascocita, Humble, Texas (16-0)

Previous: 10.

Low-down: Won the Nike Katy Classic locally and then went up to Minnesota and buried two northern foes. The Eagles lack a national schedule but have shown dominance in state.

10. Overland, Aurora, Colo. (7-0)

Previous: Not ranked.

Low-down: Won Tarkanian Classic Platinum Division title, beating local favorite Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 58-58. Indian-bound post De’Ron Davis had 20 points and nine rebounds in the final. Jordan Schakel was tabbed tournament MVP.

11. Roselle (N.J.) Catholic (3-0)

Previous: 11.

Low-down: The Lions have thumped three instate opponents. They play two national opponents this week at Slam Dunk to the Beach in Lewes, Del.

12. Huntington (W.Va.) Prep (14-3)

Previous: 7.

Low-down: Lost in the Chick-fil-A Classic National Division final. Miles Bridges, a Michigan State recruit, was named Most Outstanding Player.

13. Garfield, Seattle (5-0)

Previous: 13.

Low-down: The Bulldogs average 87 points per game and have three impressive wins over quality programs.

14. High Point (N.C.) Christian (9-2)

Previous: 9.

Low-down: Finished third at the City of Palms Classic. Indeed a very respectable showing for the Cougars.

15. St. Benedict’s, Newark, N.J. (8-0)

Previous: 15.

Low-down: The Gray Bees recently have blown out three New Jersey schools but the schedule picks up in a hurry with two high profile games in Delaware.

16. St. Anthony, Jersey City, N.J. (3-0)

Previous: 16.

Low-down: The Friars made a rare trip west of the Mississippi, hammering two Phoenix area opponents at the Hoophall West in Arizona.

17. Neumann-Goretti, Philadelphia (4-0)

Previous: 19.

Low-down: Coach Carl Arrigale’s squad has wiped out four teams but head into a pair of tough regional games in Delaware before a league showdown with No. 20 Roman Catholic (Philadelphia) on Jan. 6.

18. Peabody, Alexandria, La. (14-0)

Previous: Not ranked.

Low-down: Coach Charles Smith has 914 wins in 31 seasons on the bench. The Warhorses are currently Louisiana’s top-ranked Class 4A team and rolling.

19. Bishop Montgomery, Torrance, Calif. (10-0)

Previous: Not ranked.

Low-down: The Knights tipped off the season capturing the Westchester Trevor Ariza Tip-Off Classic in Los Angeles. Last week they won the Mission Prep Tournament up the coast in San Luis Obispo.

20. Roman Catholic, Philadelphia (6-1)

Previous: 17.

Low-down: Won the prestigious Gonzaga D.C. Classic and went 2-1 at the Chick-fil-A Classic National Division in South Carolina.

21. Patrick School, Elizabeth, N.J. (2-1)

Previous: 18.

Low-down: Lost in overtime to No. 4 Chino Hills (Calif.) at the City of Palms Classic title game in Florida. Mike Rice was named interim coach prior to the start of the regular season. Rice last coached at Rutgers University and is on the rebound after tough finish in the college ranks.

22. Bishop Gorman, Las Vegas (7-2)

Previous: 14.

Low-down: Advanced to the championship game of the Tarkanian Classic Platinum Division. Junior Charles O’Bannon had 23 points in the tournament final.

23. Prolific Prep, Napa, Calif. (7-2)

Previous: Not ranked.

Low-down: The star-studded program from Northern California has knocked off national programs.

24. Simeon, Chicago (4-1)

Previous: 22.

Low-down: The Wolverines defeated Rainer Beach (Seattle), 70-56, at Hoophall Classic West in Arizona.

25. Chaminade, St. Louis (7-2)

Previous: 23.

Low-down: Took fourth place at the City of Palms Classic. Big-time game with nationally ranked Huntington (W.Va.) Prep on Jan. 2 in the Cancer Classic in Wheeling, W.Va.
