UNION, N.J. — It is no secret the Philadelphia Belles U17 have plethora of stars in their program and they all compete for their moments to shine. But one of the rising stars in that galaxy of talent continues to work even harder.

She’s currently flying under the radar but should change soon … real soon.

Iyanna McCurdy is a 5-foot-10 guard from Friends Central High School in Philadelphia. Her game is mostly a face the basket, quick first step game with surprising perimeter range sprinkled in. Intensity and anticipation for days and the ability to score at the hoop with either hand makes Iyanna an up and comer on the prospect circuit. This weekend she competes at the USJN Big Apple Challenge at Kean University.

She has dreams to go with her big talent, she obviously hopes to play basketball in college and she feels that she could play at a Top 25 program. Iyanna plans to major in Physical Therapy wherever she goes to school, it is a field like basketball, she is passion about.

You might think that in a galaxy as large as this one with a long pedigree of stars that stretch to all levels of college and pro basketball that one could get lost pretty easily.

However, Iyanna has been able to not only maintain but improve her stock and skill set in the two years she has played for the Belles. Humble, yet confident she realizes that she has a great opportunity in front of her but still understands that she has a long way to go to establish herself in the universe in which she plays.
