COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Change is in the air.
Erin Boley of Elizabethtown (Ky.), the MVP of the recent USA Basketball 3×3 U18 National Tournament and a Notre Dame recruit, has been added to the 2015 USA Basketball Women’s 3×3 U18 World Championship Team after a muscle injury forced Asia Durr (St. Pius X Catholic H.S./Atlanta) to withdraw it was announced on May 21.
Boley, whose Southern Starz team finished second in the USA 3×3 U18 National Tournament, will join previously announced USA 3×3 U18 World Championship Team members Kristine Anigwe (Desert Vista H.S./Phoenix, Ariz.), Natalie Chou (Plano West Senior H.S./Plano, Texas) and Arike Ogunbowale (Divine Savior Holy Angels H.S./Milwaukee), at the FIBA 3×3 U18 World Championships, which will be played June 4-7 in Debrecen, Hungary.
“It was really unexpected, but it was also really exciting,” said Boley about her selection. “I hate it for Asia (Durr) that she isn’t able to play, but I’m excited to be able to represent the USA and be able to play overseas with those girls. I’m really excited. I think we can be really good.
“I started playing 3×3 this spring and I really took a liking to it. I’m really excited to play. I like the style a lot. I played really well when I came out for the (USA Basketball 3×3 U18 National Tournament) and I think I’m going to really like playing in the 3×3 tournament in Hungary.”
