Kerr, Reeve to lead U.S. national teams

Golden State Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr will be the next national men’s basketball coach for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Kerr will be assisted by Monty Williams of the Phoenix Suns, Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat and Mark Few of Gonzaga.
USA Basketball has already announced Minnesota Lynx general manager/coach Cheryl Reeve will coach the women’s national team, replacing Dawn Staley, who won gold medals in both the 2018 women’s world championship and the 2021 summer games.
Kerr, whose Warriors are off to a strong start, has international experience. He was an assistant on the 2021 World Championship team and 2021 Olympic team, which won a gold medal in the 2021 summer games in Tokyo.  He will replace Gregg Popovich of the Antonio Spurs. Kerr also takes great pride in his patriotism
His choice it possible Golden State star guard and three- point shooter deluxe Stephen Curry will play in the 2024 Paris games.
For now, Kerr will look toward the 2023 World Cup with a strong staff. Williams and Spoelstra are two of the NBA’s brightest coaching minds and Few has turned Gonzaga into a perennial national championship contender.
Reeve, arguably the WNBA’s all- time greatest coach, has won four league titles in 12 years. She will be taking over a team that has won 55 straight Olympic games and earned seven straight gold medals.
Reeve will have a busy first year. She will lead the USA at the 2022 FIBA World Cup qualifying tournament in Washington, D.C. in February while preparing for the WNBA draft. She will coach the Lynx during the 2022 season, then coach the U.S. team at the FIBA World Cup in Sydney, Australia, which starts Sept. 23. Should the team qualify, she will lead the team to Paris.
Her appointment means the return of a coach of a pro team to the position, something Reeve said was a good idea since the team is made up of WNBA stars.
