The 2019 Basketball Without Borders Global Camp is in the books and it was Canadian Aaliyah Mckenzie Edwards who walked away with the MVP gong in Charlotte. (All Photos Credit to NBAE)

The main prize and accolade was just one of several handed out at the event and with many of those recognized flagged up some time ago by BlueStar Media.

BWB Global 2019 Awards:

Girls MVP: Aaliyah Mckenzie Edwards (Canada)

Patrick Baumann Sportsmanship Award: Zoe Wadoux (France)

Grit Award: Charlisse Leger-Walker (New Zealand)

Three-Point Champion: Gemma Potter (Australia)

Many of you will remember that French shooter Wadoux was a big talking point at the #FIBAU16Europe in Bourges in 2017, with our man Pierre Ploszajski having already brought her to our attention before this time. We then watched her in Minsk. She took the award for Sportsmanship that was named after the late FIBA Secretary General, Patrick Baumann.

International players participate in the Basketball Without Borders Global NBA combine during the NBA All-Star weekend at the Queen’s University Levine Center for Wellness and Recreation on Sunday, February 17, 2019 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Potter I told everyone to watch at the U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018 in Minsk and the Sapphires star continues to impress as she won the three-point competition.

The same can be said for Leger-Walker, who is the future of the Tall Ferns and already played for New Zealand at senior level. She was a star in Minsk too.

• Girls: Nika Mühl (Croatia); Ming Zheng (China); Göksen Fitik (Turkey); Zoe Wadoux (France); Florencia Chagas (Argentina); Aminata Sangare (Mali); Aaliyah Mckenzie Edwards (Canada)

The All-Stars includes the one and only Nika Muhl, with the playmaker a regular talking point for several years at BlueStar Media from her work with Croatia at youth level and in the WABA youth leagues, and now the WABA senior league. She has a huge future.

The likes of Chagas lit it up in Minsk and has been n the radar more after making her debut in EuroLeague Women in these past months with Famila Schio. Sangare meanwhile we loved with her performances in Minsk too.
