It is no secret that participation in girls’ basketball is on the decline nationwide. Invested parties from the professional, college and grassroots level are trying to discover ways to reverse the disturbing trend. While overall the numbers might be down, there are definitely some young, potential saviors on the looming horizon. At this year’s Boo Williams Nike Invitational, several middle school players had an impactful weekend competing against older and experienced varsity players.

Naturally there was plenty more talent than we could see across the weekend between the EYBL and the talented line-up of teams on hand for 2017.  As Always Bob Corwin, All-Tournament Selection Committee Chairman, was busy in Hampton.  Listed below are the selections he shared with us for the Marques Jackson Division All-Stars.

Lisa Bodine is a national evaluator for Blue Star Media. A native of Queens, N.Y., she began her coaching career in 1993 with the NY Gazelles and has coached with D.C.-based Team Unique, as well as several high school programs. During her 30 years as a club and high school coach "The Godmother" has mentored many of the top players in the Mid-Atlantic region. Bodine runs The Godmother Sports Foundation which assists young athletes in need.
