HAMPTON, Va.—The much anticipated 2018 Nike EYBL schedule is underway and this year’s trip to Hampton and the Boo Williams Sportsplex brought some changes to the structure of the early rounds.  Each stop on the Nike tour will produce a “winner” before the clubs gather a final time in Chicago for all the marbles and the coveted bragging rights that come with it.

Each team was placed in a four team pool and after three games moved into four separate brackets to dangle another carrot in front of the athletes.  When all was said and done Sunday afternoon the Fairfax Stars had struck first in this year’s EYBL going undefeated and taking down local rival Team Takeover in the Platinum final 63 – 56.  DFW Elite grabbed top honors in the Gold bracket with a 82 – 74 win over the Cal Stars.  The Carolina Flames got by the Kentucky Premier 59 – 51 for the Silver crown and West Coast Premier took the bronze by way of their 60 – 44 win over the Colorado Premier.

After a full slate of games Fairfax moves on with the only unblemished record while six more teams look to July with just one loss under their belt.  On the other side of the coin two teams found the going tough and went home from Virginia winless for the weekend.  When the July recruiting period opens up, half of the EYBL will head to Indianapolis while the remainder will gather down the road in Louisville. The teams going to Indy combined for a 42 and 40 record in round one while those destined for Louisville put together a 41 and 45 mark.  Both rosters of teams will move directly on to Chicago after round two for the highest regarded event in club basketball, Nike Nationals and the EYBL Championship.

In an effort to provide quick feedback on round one, today we offer up a banner, image and complete results from each of the 32 clubs for their games in Hampton.  Follow the link below to the Nike Girls EYBL web site to see more including complete pool lineups and brackets.
