BENSALEM, PA — The dominos continued to fall in the sporting world Friday. It was announced Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League has cancelled their first two dates on the spring schedule because of COVID-19 or Coronavirus pandemic.

The girls’ events scheduled for April in Hampton, Virginia (Session I) and Portland, Oregon (Session II) were to be staged during the live evaluation period. The NCAA also implemented a dead period for coaches until April 18.

The Coronavirus has cancelled or postponed multiple events worldwide. The AAU basketball circuit is no exception.

On the boys’ side, the 36-team EYBL is out too. The circuit was scheduled to start on the weekend of April 17-19 in Indianapolis at the Pacers Athletic Center and following weekend in Georgia. Both events were during the spring live evaluation period.

There is no word whether Friday’s directive will affect Nike regional events on the weekend of May 8-10 in Los Angeles, Dallas, New York and Chicago. The final stop of the EYBL circuit is slated for Sacramento, California over the Memorial Day Weekend (May 23-25). The annual Peach Jam or the finals of the EYBL is traditionally held in North August, Georgia (July 8-12).

The Adidas recently renamed 3SSB (or 3 Stripes Select Basketball) circuit is scheduled to open at Louisville followed by Council Bluffs, Iowa during the April evaluation period. The July evaluation period circuit stop is Birmingham, Alabama. The All-American Camp starts July 29 for a five-day run.

The Under Armour Association April dates tip in Duncanville, Texas and then Kansas City, Missouri. The July event is headed to Emerson, Georgia at the LakePoint Sports Complex. UAA’s final are scheduled for late July in Baltimore.

The new schedule is fluid, with dates changing daily.
