Prize Nova freshman Whitmore out with injury

Blue star freshman foward Cam Whitmore was supposed to be an impact player in the Big East, but his career has temporarily been put on hold.

The 6-7 McDonald’s All American from Archbishop Spaulding in Maryland, who was the MVP of the McDonald’s All American game and USA  Basketballs U18 tournament of the Americas, will under go surgery next week on his right shooting thumb after injurying it in practice Wednesday. He will  be sidelined while he recovers and be re-evaluated in early November.
Currenty there are four Wildcats on Kyle Neptune’s team, nursing injuries. The others are guard Justin Moore (achilles tendon), Calab Daniels (broken nose) and Trey Patterson (sports hernia). Freshman guard Brendan Hausen returned to practice this week after missing Oct. 1 Hoops Mania with a concusion.
Villanova, which advanced to the Final Four last season under retired Jay Wright, is currently ranked in most pre-season top 20 polls and is generally considered the second best team in the league after Creighton.
