BENSALEM, Pa. – Consider it a calm before the storm. In a rare week, there were no additions or subtractions from the Blue Star Media girls’ basketball rankings. Most of the schools are ready to conclude their regular seasons.

If you are in Florida, the regional tournaments tip off this week. Teams need to win three games to qualify for the Final Four at The Lakeland Center. Next week, Hawaii will crown two champions in Honolulu. No. 12 Konawaena (Kealakekua, Hawaii) is a heavy favorite to repeat in Division I. The Wildcats are loaded with plenty and have a national schedule chock full of mainland powers.

No. 16 Riverdale Baptist School (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and No. 25 Wenonah (Birmingham, Ala.) both dropped 12 spots after upset losses. No. 21 Blackman (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) slipped three after dropping an overtime game to district rival Stewarts Creek (Smyrna). It was the Lady Blaze’s first loss to an in-state foe in 62 games.

If teams start to drop look no further than the Regional High-Fives to backfill. The next five logical teams to join the Elite 25 include Forestville (Md.), Lynnwood (Bothell, Wash.), Highlands Ranch (Colo.), Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) and Princeton (Ind.). However that’s always flexible.

The game of the week is Monday when No. 16 Riverdale Baptist plays regionally ranked Forestville (Md.). This one is certain to shake the Elite 25 rankings.

The Elite 25 girls’ rankings will appear again on February 10. The boys are back at you on February 9.

1. St. Mary’s Stockton, Calif. (19-0)

Previous rank: 1.

Low-down: The win streak hit 48 games after a 76-36 win over Lincoln (Stockton). Naje Murray dropped in 17 of her game-high 21 points in the first half, including five three-pointers. The Rams host Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland) on Saturday.

2. Duncanville, Texas (30-0)

Previous: 2.

Low-down: The Pantherettes close out the regular season Friday with Midlothian.

3. Neumann-Goretti, Philadelphia (18-0)

Previous: 3.

Low-down: The Saints waxed Bishop McDevitt (Wyncote, Pa.), 69-16, and Archbishop Carroll (Radnor), 56-19, with defensive efforts that did not allow double digits in all eight quarters. The regular season wraps up Friday with Senior Night versus West Catholic (Philadelphia). Coach Andrea Peterson’s team will receive a first-round bye once the Philadelphia Catholic League playoffs start next week.

4. Centennial, Las Vegas (22-1)

Previous: 5.

Low-down: Finally the Lady Bulldogs get tested Friday at No. 25 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) in the Nike Extravaganza.

5. Paul VI, Fairfax, Va. (20-1)

Previous: 6.

Low-down: In a nail-biter, the Panthers survived a late charge to hold off St. John’s College (Washington, D.C.), 59-58. Ashley Owusu scored 17 points and Amira Collins added 14. St. John’s nearly won it at the buzzer but a putback missed. The Panthers have a busy run with seven games in 14 days to end the regular season.

6. Olive Branch, Miss. (24-0)

Previous: 7.

Low-down: The Lady Quistors won twice but have a rematch with rivals Horn Lake on Friday.

7. National Christian Academy, Fort Washington, Md. (21-0)

Previous: 8.

Low-down: After nearly a two-week gap, the Eagles beat Three Point Line Christian Academy (Midlothian, Va.), 50-42.

8. North Shore, Galena Park, Texas (28-1)

Previous: 9.

Low-down: Chastity Patterson (24 points), Alyssa Okoene (23) and Victoria Blankenship (21) combined for 68 points in a 106-34 victory over West Brook (Beaumont).

9. Mansfield (Texas) Timberview (27-0)

Previous: 10.

Low-down: The Wolves fought off Waxahachie, 51-46, but blew out Mansfield Lake Ridge by 42 points. This week it’s Mansfield Legacy on Tuesday and Ennis on Friday

10. Miramonte, Orinda, Calif. (20-0)

Previous: 11.

Low-down: The win streak hit 20 games with two more against overmatched Diablo Foothill League on tap.

11. Cicero (N.Y.)-North Syracuse (16-0)

Previous: 12.

Low-down: McKayla Roberts averaged 17.5 points in two lopsided wins. The North Stars wind down the season with three games remaining before the Section III, Class AA playoffs.

12. Konawaena, Kealakekua, Hawaii (21-1)

Previous: 14.

Low-down: G Chanelle Molina, a Washington State signee, flipped in 20 points in a narrow 46-39 win over Hilo in the season finale. Next is the Division I state tournament that goes Feb. 9 through 12 at the University of Hawaii’s Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

13. Canyon, Texas (24-1)

Previous: 15.

Low-down: The Eagles have three games left in the regular season capped by a date with Randall (Amarillo) on Feb. 9.

14. St. Francis, Alpharetta, Ga. (21-1)

Previous: 16.

Low-down: Defeated Pinecrest Academy (Cumming), 77-47.

15. Bellevue, Wash. (18-0)

Previous: 17.

Low-down: The KingCo 3A/2A Conference title will be on the line Friday at Mercer Island.

16. Riverdale Baptist School, Upper Marlboro, Md. (23-2)

Previous: 4.

Low-down: After a long layoff because of heavy along the Eastern seaboard last week, the Lady Crusaders traveled north and were beaten by Life Center Academy (Burlington, N.J.), 59-55. Life Center outscored Riverdale, 28-12, from the free thrown line. They bounced back with a 58-41 victory over traditional power Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.).

17. Bishop Gorman, Las Vegas (22-1)

Previous: 19.

Low-down: Ciara Young, Madison Washington and Skylar Jackson bucketed 14 points apiece and the Gaels toppled Mount Miguel (Spring Valley, Calif.), 70-42.

18. Archbishop Mitty, San Jose, Calif. (17-3)

Previous: 20.

Low-down: The Monarchs nabbed three more wins.

19. Morgan Park, Chicago (22-2)

Previous: 21.

Low-down: Defeated Northside (Chicago), 104-27, and North Lawndale (Chicago), 73-71.

20. Montini Catholic, Lombard, Ill. (24-1)

Previous: 22.

Low-down: Following an 11-point loss to Morgan Park, the Lady Broncos torched three opponents, including Regina (Chicago), 77-14, in the GCAC Tournament.

21. Blackman, Murfreesboro, Tenn. (20-3)

Previous: 18.

Low-down: The Lady Blaze had a reality check last week, losing in overtime to Stewarts Creek (Smyrna), 58-53. That ends an in-state win streak at 62 games. Crystal Dangerfield scored 28 points but South Florida-bound Jazz Bond was held to eight.

22. Chaminade, West Hills, Calif. (21-3)

Previous: 23.

Low-down: The Eagles buried Newbury Park, 75-55, and Notre Dame Academy (Los Angeles), 86-40.

23. Heritage, Saginaw, Mich. (14-0)

Previous: 24.

Low-down: The Hawks’ Jenna Falkenberg (20 points) and Jaela Richardson (18) teamed for 38 points in a 68-31 rout of crosstown rival Saginaw. Friday night it’s off to Bay City Central.

24. Mater Dei, Santa Ana, Calif. (21-2)

Previous: 25.

Low-down: Nothing like home cooking when No. 5 Centennial (Las Vegas) visits Friday for the Nike Extravaganza. The Monarchs need three more wins to complete another perfect campaign in the Trinity League.

25. Wenonah, Birmingham, Ala. (25-1)

Previous: 13.

Low-down: The win streak was halted at 24 games after a 62-49 upset-loss to Shades Valley (Birmingham), but the Dragons rebounded beating Parker (Birmingham), 75-14. Kaitlyn Rodgers had 17 points, 15 rebounds and blocked three shots in the latter game.
