It’s always hard to asses and evaluate any team’s performance in a game that is essentially over in just a few minutes of play. Wednesday in their opening game of the FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Women, the USA U16 Women rolled to a 25 – 4 lead over Brazil after one quarter and never looked back. Sometimes a closer look at the stat sheet can be revealing for both the coaches and players as they prepare for the next round of play. Of course, all stats in a blowout have to be taken with a grain of salt as focus, shot selection and host of other intangibles tend to get distorted as the margin balloons. With that in mind here’s a link to the final box score and some key stats that might offer some insight to the win and where the coaches are both pleased and concerned.
