The 2013 8th grade AAU D-I National Championships were held in Orlando Florida on July 8-13. A total of 44 teams from 24 associations competed over the five day period. In the end the National Champions hailed from North Carolina as NC Team Carolina 2017 won the Gold Ball with a 78-72 overtime victory over the Florida Jacksonville Lady Rams. Team Carolina is led by Mikayla Boykin, a 5-8 2017 guard. Boykin is making the transition to point guard as her career progresses. She has very good court vision, is dangerous in transition and has the halfcourt moves to get to the basket. The runner up Lady Rams were led by Rellah Boothe, also a 2017, who believes she owns the block as a 6-0 forward and utilizes a quick drop step to finish strong.
