Team USA adds Millsap to roster

Team USA took steps to prop up its decimated front line for the upcoming World Cup competition this fall in Spain by adding Atlanta Hawkis’ All Star forward Paul Milsap to the national team roster for this week’s training camp in Las Vegas.

Millsap had prior experience at the National Team level, having participated in the 2009 National Team mini-camp and offers the senior team a much needed veteran inside player in the wake of recent withdrawals of centers Kevin Love and LeMarcus Aldridge and forwards Kawhil Leonard and Blake Griffin..

In his first season with Atlanta during last year, Millsap had a career best season, being selected to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team and posting highs in scoring (17.9), assists (3.1), total steals (129), three-point field goals made (76) and percentage (.358) and double-doubles (30). He also had his first career triple-double with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists against Toronto on March 18.

In the Hawks first round series loss to the Indiana Pacers, Millsap upgraded his averages to 19.4 points,  10.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 38.1 minutes per game.
