Three games this week could shake Blue Star Media Elite 25 High School Football rankings; No. 24 Clarkston (MI) enters

BENSALEM, Pa. –  The latest Blue Star Media Elite 25 high school football rankings, as of October 6, show two additions. Joining the rankings are No. 23 Chandler (Ariz.) and No. 24 Clarkston (Mich.).

The rankings will have a new look next with three significant games fueling this speculation: No. 3 Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) at Paramus (N.J.) Catholic, Saturday; No. 6 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) at No. 7 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), Friday on ESPN; and No. 20 Male (Louisville, Ky.) travels to at St. Xavier (Louisville), Friday.

1. Allen, Texas (6-0)

Previous rank: 1.

What happened: Defeated Lewisville, 49-13. The Eagles scored 28 points in the first quarter and never looked back. Texas A&M-bound signal caller Kyler Murray tossed three TDs and ran for another and RB David Feliciano rushed for a pair of scores. One more game and then the Eagles enter a bye week.

Next: Friday at Hebron (Carrollton).

2. Bishop Gorman, Las Vegas (7-0)

Previous: 2.

What happened: Defeated Shadow Ridge (Las Vegas), 56-0. QB Tate Martell, a sophomore headed to Washington, tossed TD passes of 50, 75, 5 and 10 yards, including a pair to soph playmaker Tyjon Lindsey. The Gaels led, 42-0, at halftime.

Next: Friday at Durango (Las Vegas).

3. Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey, N.J. (3-0)

Previous: 3.

What happened: Idle. The Ironmen play the in the nation’s toughest league, Big North Conference United Division, and now the fun begins.

Next: Saturday at regionally ranked Paramus (N.J.) Catholic.

4. DeSoto, Texas (5-0)

Previous: 4.

What happened: Idle.

Next: Friday vs. Mansfield.

5. De La Salle, Concord, Calif. (6-0)

Previous: 6.

What happened: Defeated San Ramon Valley (Danville), 70-14. The Spartans coasted to a 49-7 lead at intermission.

Next: Saturday vs. Logan (Union City) at Levi Strauss Stadium, Santa Clara.

6. Mater Dei, Santa Ana, Calif. (5-0)

Previous: 5.

What happened: Defeated Westlake (Westlake Village), 28-27.  Gutty senior FB-DE Malik McMorris bolted for a TD in the fourth quarter for a 28-17 lead and the Monarchs survived a last-second 33-yard FG miss to hold on. Phew!

Next: Friday at No. 7 St. John Bosco (Bellflower).

7. St. John Bosco, Bellflower, Calif. (4-1)

Previous: 7.

What happened: Defeated Crenshaw (Los Angeles), 65-7. Even with a running clock in the second half, the Braves kept the scoreboard operator busy. The Trinity League opener is a doozy on Friday.

8. St. Thomas Aquinas, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (4-1)

What happened: Defeated South Broward (Hollywood), 70-0. The Raiders won’t be seriously tested until the Class 7A playoffs.

What happened: Defeated Haltom (Haltom City), 41-0. Five different Trinity players rushed for TDs.

What happened: Blanked Homestead, 49-0. It was the Rockets second shutout in three games.

What happened: Defeated Lowndes County (Valdosta), 45-27. The Packers were up 28-21 at the break and now averaging nearly 42 points per outing.

What happened: Idle.

What happened: Defeated Glacier Peak (Snohomish), 30-0. The Wolverines rolled to a 30-0 halftime lead when Yofiel Wylie, Christoph Hirota and Ercle Terrell ran for TDs. Junior QB Justus Rogers hit on 6 of 7 passes for 188 yards and a TD.

What happened: Defeated Chestatee (Gainesville), 54-7.

What happened: Defeated Coppell, 28-24. RB Lil’ Jordan Humphrey ran for 116 yards and two TDs, including the game-winner with 24 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

What happened: Next: Defeated Dutchtown (Geismar), 37-6. After five straight wins to open the season, the Raiders now face an archrival.

What happened: Defeated Desert Vista (Phoenix), 49-14. Senior Paul Lucas was named to the Under Armour All-American Game. It’s a very prestigious honor for the senior RB, who has multiple offers from Pac-12 schools.
