MOORESVILLE, SC – A busy spring of basketball has given way to a busy start to the summer, no doubt. We made our way south this past weekend to the suburbs of the Queen City for the Carolina Tune Up, hosted by Carolina Girls Hoops and NYG Hoops, the dynamic duo behind the camera!
Talent is never hard to find in the Carolina’s, and the event drew teams from as far away as New York, so there were some unique match ups up and down the card. There was a mix of nationally-known names, older players who are picking up new offers, and younger players who are just getting started. All are trying to improve and hone their skills as the July Eval Period inches closer.
Blue Star Media was in Charlotte for Saturday and Sunday, and here are a few names that caught our eye.
Laila Anderson — 2022 — 5-5 — Point Guard — Lady Phenoms – Lanky athlete…Defends and then distributes going the other way…Shoots three OK…A little undersized…Can get to the basket…Played well against some better competition
Abbie Baker — 2022 — 6-0 — Forward — Lady Copperheads 2022 – Big inside…Will face up on the catch…Gets the ball high and stay patient…Slow running the floor…Does some things on the offensive end…Hit 15 footer and even a three

Kenzi Board — 2025 — 5-7 — Guard — Lady Copperheads 2025 – Has some shake and explosion with the ball…Nice ball/body control, and can stop and go pretty well…Uses the jab to create driving windows…Can contribute on the defensive end and seems to get excited when she helps get stops
Kaiya Bond — 2026 — 5-9 — Guard/Forward — Mt. Luxor – Great looking athlete…All arms and legs…Very raw, still developing her handles…Got to foul line some…Wait and see
Danauje Brooks — 2025 — 5-0 — Point Guard — Lady Strong Center 2024 – Solid young combo, likely suited to be a true PG at the end of the day…Pull up is good for her age…Wiggles her way through traffic and changes pace well with the ball…Will get some steals defensively
Amirah Brown — 2027 — 5-3 — Point Guard — H2 Lowco – Lefty athletic lead guard…Kind of shoots it with two hands still but will grow out of that as she is already making some shots…Also tried the trey…Does some good things off the dribble…Has a chance
Zykera Brown — 2025 — 5-10 — Guard — FBC Carolina Elite Hawks 2025 – Bully power guard…Strong upper body…Wants to handle the ball and attack the rim…Can hit from outside some…Some key performances in big games
Treasure Davis — 2028 — Combo Guard — One Force 2026 – Quick combo guard who gets to the rack and is starting to learn to use her body to shield…Short right now but has some strength to her…Gets lots of lay ups, although still learning what to do when she runs into help D…Like how she gets downhill off ball screens…Keep an eye on
Teonna Draughn — 2026 — 5-5 — Guard — One Force 2026 – Naturally athletic…Tight, compact pull up and a quick release…Multiple 3’s…Elusive with the ball…Likes runners…1st step very quick…Can get some tough buckets…Pogo stick hops…Can be an in your face defender

Khalia Hartwell — 2025 — 6-3 — Post — FBC Carolina Elite Hawks 2025 – Physical traits are eye-catching…Wants to put it on the floor inside…Aggressive when she catches…Can step through with the pivot foot into a shot attempt…Needs to work on the FT and stroke…Potential is there in a pretty big way
Kamya Hatten — 2023 — 5-11 — Wing — FBC Carolina Elite Hawks 2023 – At her best when she is attacking from the open court…Likes the spin move to score or dish…Puts her size to use at times…Still working on refining some things, so see where she wants to take it
Angelina Jones — 2023 — 5-6 — Guard — Lady Copperheads 2023 – Really shoots it well…Knows how to get open and shoots it without a conscience…If you’re looking for a shooter take a flyer here
Karianna Lee — 2024 — 5-5 — Point Guard — Lady Hornets Elite – Some flash and personality out there…Good communicator at times…Gets penetration often because she is quick off the bounce…Plays well in spurts, see if she can develop consistency
Tysonia Lowe — 2023 — 5-6 — Point Guard — Carolina Hoopers – Smooth three-pointer off the bounce…Also mid range…Pull up can be big time weapon in the near future…Solid form but seeking more consistency…Can attack and split two defenders or use the euro

Nicole Melious — 2023 — 5-8 — Guard — Hoopers New York – Georgia Tech commit…Known scorer but really doing a nice job of sharing the ball and making solid decisions…Sniper out there with plenty of deep balls…Can’t go under on ball screens, and you have to pick her up way out there early

Nicole Sanfillippo — 2022 — 5-9 — Guard — Hoopers New York – Energetic and highly active scoring guard…Can shoot the 3, but her bread is buttered off the dribble…Attacking the basket to get some tough buckets…Balled out in big moments…Some flash and toughness to her game at the same time
Kennedy Scales — 2022 — 5-7 — Combo Guard — Lady Copperheads 2022 – Good length….Plays a solid point, but like her attacking the rim from the wing as well…Some nice takes and split defenders to finish…Showed well and consistently scored against good competition
Sarah Strong — 2024 — 6-2 — Forward — Lady Strong Center 2024 – Big and physically gifted as the name implies, with the game to match…Might be one of the best passers at her size that you will find, the way she finds open teammates off the dribble…Going to own the paint on both ends…Rebounds and blocks shots…Continues to impress
Lily Termini — 2026 — 5-6 — Guard — H2 Lowco – Lanky and likely will grow more…Good passer…Can get to basket…Natural footwork on the catch..Will put up the 3 but needs to graduate the shot…Has a patience and awareness about her…Rebounds and defends
Kamari Thompson — 2023 — 5-9 — Wing/Forward — FBC Carolina Elite Hawks 2023 – Athletic wing…Tweener type…Had to be the best offensive rebounder here, and pulled them against bigger players who are more established…Not great with the left…Handles and pushes fine to play on the perimeter, and has the prototype wing build…Solid on D…Needs to continue to upgrade offensively, but looks the part and gets stuff done
