Players of the Day From Day 2 of The Title IX Holiday Classic

Emily Kelley 5-10 2017 Guard -Kelley put up Steph Curry-like numbers shooting 9-12 from beyond the arc against top-ranked St. Mary’s(CA). The Gilmour Academy(OH) guard finished with 31 points in a 87-64 loss.

Aquira DeCosta 6-2 2018 Wing/Post –From the opening tap she set the tone for St. Mary’s when she quickly grabbed an inbounds pass and scored on a reverse layup. Finishing with 20 points she did her best work on the offensive glass.

Kiara Smith 5-9 2016 Guard –Against nationally ranked St. Francis(GA) Smith had an outstanding game on both ends of the floor. She was able to get to the basket at will against the big St. Francis front court. Defensively, she anchored Forestville’s(MD) press, creating transition scoring opportunities from numerous steals.

Jasmine vBrunson 5-8 2016 Guard – The Minnesota signee was in full control of the The Mary Louis Academy(NY) offensive attack in a 52-43 semi-final victory in the Sandler bracket.

Lisa Bodine is a national evaluator for Blue Star Media. A native of Queens, N.Y., she began her coaching career in 1993 with the NY Gazelles and has coached with D.C.-based Team Unique, as well as several high school programs. During her 30 years as a club and high school coach "The Godmother" has mentored many of the top players in the Mid-Atlantic region. Bodine runs The Godmother Sports Foundation which assists young athletes in need.
