NEW YORK – It’s baaaaaack!
The UA Next Elite 24 is returning to its roots in August, returning to New York for the first time since 2016, when 48 of the best high school boys and girls basketball standouts compete in the premier showcase event of the summer.
The 14th edition of the event is slated for the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn on Aug. 10, with the girls set for 6 p.m. EDT and boys to follow at 8 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
Twenty-four of the country’s elite girls basketball stars, representing the next wave of the sport’s blossoming future, will compete in the third edition of the girls’ game.
Meanwhile, in a first for UA Next Elite 24, some of the world’s most dynamic international boys prospects will join the top talent from the United States in a truly global basketball exhibition for the boys’ game.
International players have taken their place among the best basketball stars in the world; each of the last six NBA MVPs are foreign-born players, each of the last two No. 1 picks in the NBA Draft are from overseas and 20 international players were selected in the 2024 Draft, the most in a single draft since 2016.
Located in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard, Duggal Greenhouse was once a shipping warehouse that has transformed into one of the boroughs’ most versatile event spaces on the East River with incredible views of the Manhattan skyline.
“The return of Elite 24 to the bright lights of New York City brings the event full circle,” said Sean Eggert, Under Armour Senior Vice President of Global Sports Marketing. “Elite 24 has a special history in this city which serves as one of the great epicenters for basketball and hoop culture in the world.
“Building on the incredible success from previous years, we are thrilled to once again make our mark here and, for the first time, expand our reach globally by inviting top international athletes to showcase their talents alongside the best high school players in the United States.”
UA Next Elite 24 is a platform for the basketball stars of tomorrow to showcase their talents to a national audience. In its short history, six former players have been selected No. 1 overall in the NBA Draft, while 21 have been top-five selections, including 2022 Elite 24 participant Stephon Castle, who was selected No. 4 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs.
In total, 109 players who have participated in the event have been drafted by NBA franchises. Additionally, 25 boys have been named Associated Press All-Americans during their college careers, while Hannah Hidalgo, a 2022 Elite 24 standout, earned first-team All-America accolades – a first for a UA Next Elite 24 alumnae – as a Notre Dame freshman last year.
