USA Basketball Women’s U17 National Team trials set for May 26; 12-member team will compete at World Cup in Hungary
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The field is set for the 2022 USA Basketball Women’s U17 National Team trials.
USA Basketball announced 40 athletes expected to participate trials at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center.
Trials will start May 26 with the 12-member team expected to be announced June 1. The team will reconvene in Colorado Springs from June 25-30 before competing at the U17 World Cup July 9-17 in Debrecen, Hungary.
Trials participants and coaches were selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Development National Team Committee. Athletes will represent the graduating classes of 2023, 2024 and 2025.
From the class of 2023 are Sunaja Agara, Kamorea Arnold, Madison Booker, Zoe Brooks, Mallory Collier, Breya Cunningham, Jadyn Donovan, Milaysia Fulwiley, Mary Ashley Groot, Hannah Hidalgo, Reagan Jackson, Kymora Johnson, Riley Nelson, Delaney Thomas, Judea Watkins, Jada Williams and Mikaylah Williams.
Representing the class of 2024 are Mikayla Blakes, Jaloni Cambridge, Morgan Cheli, Kendall Dudley, Joyce Edwards, Leah Harmon, Ella Hobbs, Jordan Lee, Olivia Olson, Taliyah Parker, Mackenly Randolph, Tajianna Roberts, Kennedy Smith, Blanca Thomas, Kennedy Umeh and Allie Ziebell.
The class of 2025 features Sienna Betts, Aaliyah Crump, Adelaide Jernigan, Marcayla Johnson, Leah Macy, Brooklyn Shamblin and Aubrey Shaw.
Arnold, Booker, Cambridge, Cunningham, Donovan, Dudley, Olson, Delaney Thomas, Watkins and Jada Williams were members of the 2021 USA Women’s U16 National Team that defeated Canada 118-45 for the gold medal at the 2021 FIBA Women’s U16 Americas Championship. Brooks, Fulwiley, Hobbs and Umeh were finalists for the 2021 U16 roster, while Edwards, Groot, Parker and Shaw were at trials.
The USA has won the FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup four of the five times the event has been held, including the most recent occurrence in 2018.
