PUNTA ARENAS, Chile – The U23 Americans once again showed dominance during the Stop 6 of the 2025 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Americas Conference this weekend.
Next stop for the both the United States men’s and women’s team is Xiong An, China, set for Sept. 17-21, at the FIBA U23 World Cup.
The USA men won the Stop 6 Final at the Nations League Americas Conference, highlighting the final day of competition. With the week’s results, the U.S. men won their conference and punched their ticket to China.
The women’s team also won their conference title in Chile, but had already qualified for the U23 World Cup after winning the same competition last year.
On Sunday, July 27, the USA men’s team made it to the Stop 6 Final for the sixth straight stop. The women’s team lost their first game of the day against Canada but went on to win their consolation game against the Cayman Islands and finished third on the day.
The men’s squad advanced to the Stop 6 Final with a 21-10 win over the Cayman Islands. Ryan Prather Jr. led the way, delivering a standout performance with a trio of 2s and a game-high 9 points.
Argentina pushed the U.S. in a tightly contested Stop 6 Final, pulling even at 10-10 with 4:32 remaining. But the Americans responded with a 7-0 run, sparked by Caden Pierce’s five-point burst during the stretch. Lockdown defense closed it out from there, securing an 18-13 win for the U.S. squad. Pierce scored a game-high 10 points in the winning effort.
The women’s squad opened Pool A with a narrow 19-18 loss to Canada, marking just their second defeat of the tournament. Trailing 19-15 with under two minutes to play, the U.S. mounted a spirited comeback.
Rachel Ullstrom sparked the run with a bucket, followed by a score from MiLaysia Fulwiley to cut the deficit to just 2 points. Joyce Edwards added another with 24 seconds left to make it a one-point game, but the late surge fell just short as Canada held on for the win. Fulwiley led the team with 8 points.
The Americans responded dominantly in their next game, rolling past Argentina 21-5. A blistering early run set the tone, and the U.S. never looked back. Edwards led the charge with 9 points, while Fulwiley added 6 and Zee Spearman chipped in 5.
The women’s team closed out Stop 6 with a dominant 21-2 win over the Cayman Islands in the third-place game. Edwards led the team with 9 points, while Spearman and Ullstrom added 6 points apiece.
The women’s team claimed first place in four stops (Stops 2, 3, 4, and 5) and finished third in Stops 1 and 6. The men’s team also secured four first-place finishes (Stops 1, 2, 3, and 6), while earning second-place honors in Stops 4 and 5.
