BENSALEM, Pa. – There was slight shuffling in the Blue Star Media Elite 25 boys’ basketball rankings. The heavy action was confined to southern California, Chicago and Washington, D.C. These areas produced results that altered the Elite 25.

The biggest shakeup occurred in Vincennes Avenue in Chicago, where No. 19 Simeon beat their archrivals No. 15 Morgan Park, 60-57. The win means the Wolverines re-enter the Elite 25 and capture their conference title with the city playoffs ready to tipoff on Wednesday and the loss dumped the Mustangs five slots. The game is always special and the proximity of the schools (less than 5 miles apart) only fans the flames. The two could meet again the city semifinals.

Florida is the first major state to start the postseason, with the district tournaments getting underway this week.

The Elite 25 rankings are back next week on February 9. The girls’ rankings appear on Wednesday. Check back to www.bluestarmedia.org for the latest in basketball news and announcements. Until next week, hope to see you at a game soon. –-Christopher Lawlor
