2011 Nike Skills Academy – East

The Nike Skills Academy in Thorofare, NJ highlighted the strength of the young talent in the region.  Post player  Erin Mathias lead the way with her mobility and variety of post moves with finish.  She can run the floor and attack from the high post as well as reading a defense with her back to the basket.  At 6’5 she will continue to develop.  Also making a strong showing for the class of 2014 was Johnah Johnson, Sierra Calhoun, and Zaire O’Neill.

The high school class of 2013 was lead by Jade Walker, Aaliyah Lewis, Sahara Lopez, and Rachel Maddon.  

The rising seniors in the class of 2012 showed their enthusiasm when the games and 3 on 3 games developed.  The key for all of the prospects will be incorporating the drill work into their daily routines with game speed intensity and then applying them to their games.  Leading the way was Brianna Butler.  Kahleah Copper, and Danaejah Grant. Others who showed why they will be top prospects in the Class of 2012 where:  Brittney Sykes, Sierra Moore, Alexa Coulombe, and Destiny Brown.   The most focused, intense, and hard working attendee was Alexandra Wheatley. 

Blue Star National Evaluator – Pam Bass

Chris Mennig is the National Evaluator for Blue Star Basketball, & Event Coordinator for US Junior Nationals. Mennig was a women's college basketball assistant coach/recruiter for over 10 years and has been on the side lines for twenty years, with stops at Bryant College, Brown, St. Bonaventure, Illinois State, University of Illinois, and Arizona State University. Presently a member of the McDonald's All-American committee, he has lectured at various recruiting clinics as well as at the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Convention.
