LOS ANGELES, Calif.–The 8th Annual USJN California Classic was held at the impressive 65,000 square foot, eight court MAP Sports Facility in Orange County. Nearly 50 college recruiters were in attendance to catch the 82 teams participating over the course of the three day event wrapping up the second NCAA Spring Evaluation weekend.

It was an exciting weekend filled with high level talent like Alyasia Styles of San Marcos, CA. and Wiggins Waves (see below). Even more exciting was the young talent already beginning to make an impact.  Here are some of the players with exceptionally strong showings.

Ashlee Ane – 2017 – 5-9 – Guard – (Saugus, Calif. – SCV Triple Threat 17)- A strong slasher who simply makes things happen…Can get it to the rim going either way and is not afraid to take contact…Has a nice shot, can pull up around 10-15 ft…Can handle it well…Vocal leader on the floor with her teammates.

Jazalyn Anousinh – 2021 –  5-5 -Point Guard – (San Diego, Calif. – Wiggins Waves 15)- Dynamic, young guard with a quick first step…Advanced handles for her age…Does a great job of creating for teammates and getting the ball where it needs to go…Floor general who is wise beyond her years…Definitely keep an eye on her…Strong D-1 prospect

Elle Baker – 2018 – 6-3 – Center – (Scottsdale, Ariz. – Jump Athletics 17)- A low block post player with great size and frame to her…Runs the floor well, especially in transition…Has good hands and touch…Catches it in stride and finishes…Posts up hard…Did not get as many touches as you would like…Potential and skill set are there

Cailtin Bickle – 2018 – 6-2 – Forward – (Cave Creek, Ariz. – Arizona Select 17 Black)- Long and athletic with a great frame…Extremely versatile with her ability to play down on the block and out on the perimeter…Sees the floor well and is a strong passer…Strong downfloor outlet…Can get it to the rim from the perimeter…Has a scoring mentality with the ability to shoot it deep…Exceptional talent with a big future…Strong D-1 talent

Sentia Bryant- 2018 – 6-1 – Center – (Mesa, Ariz. – Arizona Select 17 Black)- Back-to-the-basket post…Gets to the free throw line at will…Strong frame and build allows her to dominate most who try to guard her…Runs the floor…Has great hands and nice touch around the rim…Natural ability to rebound the ball…An exciting up-and-coming center

Samantha Fries- 2019 – 6-1 – Forward/Center – (Yorba Linda, Calif. – OC Rhythm UA 17 Black)- Stands out immediately…Has a good base of low block post moves…Has good hands, soft touch and a hook shot from 5 feet

Meghann Henderson – 2017 – 5-10 – Guard/Forward – (La Habra, Calif. – OC Rhythm UA 17 Black)- Long, athletic guard…Handles it well…Has range beyond the arc and does a good job of getting it to the rim…Dynamic player who can cause havoc defensively with length

Tai Johnson – 2018 – 6-2 – Center – (Fountain Hills, Ariz. – Jump Athletics 17)-  Strong build…Solid, low block post player…Plays the game physically…Rebounds the ball well…Gets a lot of looks around the rim…Reads the flight of the ball…Lots of tools

Alana Kelly – 2018 – 6-0 – Forward – (Tempe, Ariz. – Jump Athletics 17)- Strong forward…Plays the game physical…Has the potential to be a great defender with athleticism and lengthand wingspan especially in her arms…Versatile with her size…Has a nice looking shot and can shoot the three

Bobi Mack – 2020 – 5-6 – Guard – (San Diego, Calif. – Wiggins Waves 15)- Long guard with the ability to run the point…More of a shooting guard with a scoring mentality…Not afraid to let it fly…Handles it well…Deep range beyond the arc…Currently more of a catch and shoot shooter…Will continue to develop

Jayda Ruffus Milner- 2018 – 6-0 – Guard/Forward – (North Hills, Calif. – Balboa Hills 17 Stars)- Excellent athlete with the ability to swat it to about the 4th row…Build and long arms alone make her stand out…Has the ability to play back to the basket or out on the perimeter…Does a great job getting to the rim…Can elevate and uses her length…Finishes going either way…High D-1 future

Jayla Ruffus Milner – 2018 – 6-0 – Guard/Forward – (North Hills, Calif. – Balboa Hills 17 Stars)- She and twin sister, Jayda, have nearly identical builds and styles of play…Extremely athletic…Does a great job of getting to the rim…Impressive, quick first step

Alaysia Styles – 2017 – 6-2 -Guard/Forward – (San Marcos, Calif. – Wiggins Waves 17)- High level athlete…Fun to watch…Long, athletic and strong frame…Can score it in a number of ways…Gets to the rim with her first step…Has a mid-range step back…Can shoot it beyond the arc…Ability is there to play with her back to the basket…Great touch around the rim…Elite player

Teuila Tuiasosopo – 2020 – 5-10 – Center – Daily City, Calif. – Oakland Soldiers 14)- Strong, low block post player…Has a touch around the rim…Finishes well…Plays with a sense of urgency…Simply makes things happen…Current range is to 15 feet…Nice looking shot

Milan Tuttle – 2021 – 5-5 – Guard – (Dublin, Calif. – Oakland Soldiers 14)- Already has the build, athleticism and frame to be a serious prospect…Has a great handle…Ability is there to run the point…Sees the floor well…Always looking to advance the ball…Can shoot the three…Gets to the rim…Finishes with contact…Advanced age

Chris Mennig is the National Evaluator for Blue Star Basketball, & Event Coordinator for US Junior Nationals. Mennig was a women's college basketball assistant coach/recruiter for over 10 years and has been on the side lines for twenty years, with stops at Bryant College, Brown, St. Bonaventure, Illinois State, University of Illinois, and Arizona State University. Presently a member of the McDonald's All-American committee, he has lectured at various recruiting clinics as well as at the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Convention.
