If you know basketball at all you know who Howard Garfinkel is and what he has meant to basketball at the grassroots level.  Garfinkel co-founded the renowned Five Star Basketball Camps in 1966 and left an imprint on the game until his passing Saturday at the age of 86.  We recently had the opportunity to cross paths with him last month in Chicago at the 2016 McDonald’s All-American game.  While he’ll no longer be in the gym, his presence will live on through the players and coaches who shared the floor with him at some point along the line.
