BENSALEM, Pa. – It was a relatively quiet weekend for the Blue Star Media Elite 25 high school football rankings. There was a major ripple in California and one team has been added to the rankings

Let’s start in southern California, where top-ranked St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) received a major scare in a 27-26 victory over Servite (Anaheim) in the Trinity League opener for both teams. It took a two missed extra-points to keep the Braves perfect and exhale. Going in we knew Servite was no pushover, but great teams survive these games.

Bosco should not be looking ahead to their game with No. 2 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) later this month. The Braves are on the road this weekend at regionally ranked JSerra (San Juan Capistrano) Friday. And Mater Dei hosts Servite Friday in a game that could shed some light into the big game on Oct. 25.

In the Bay Area, No. 21 De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) enters the Elite 25 rankings and has recovered nicely after an opening day loss. This weekend presents another CIF-North Coast Section opponent that is unbeaten.

The Blue Star Media Elite 25 rankings will return on Oct. 8.

If you haven’t already attended a game this season be sure to get out this weekend. We hope to see you at one soon. — Christopher Lawlor
