DAYTONA BEACH, Fla,–The annual NCAA Fall Evaluation weekend has come and gone and so has the so-called “boycott” by the Power Five coaches that represented about as much enthusiasm among its members as the American electorate has for the Donald-Hillary show.  If there’s solidarity in numbers then, yes, you would have to categorize this weekend’s “sit out “as some type of success.  If you define its effectiveness in terms of clarity in message and unified support among complete staffs (not just the opinion of the head coach)…then we might be looking at something considerably less than a memorable benchmark in the annals of protest history.  None the less players were still in the gym playing and plenty of coaches were still wandering the sidelines, including some of the Power Five sisterhood and brethren.

For the 16th year Roundball Academy offered up their Show and Prove Showcase (Originally the Super Showcase) and plenty of talent was on the rosters for those coaches who saw fit to hit the road and take a look.  Over 250 athletes representing six different states were on hand at Mainland High School and the Vince Carter Athletic Center in Daytona for the two day event.  Some established players were at work honing their skills while quite a few up and comers were adding some additional depth to their resume’.  Throw in a bevy of promising middle schoolers and those recruiters and evaluators putting the time in more than got their monies worth.  (Depending, of course, on how you define that particular equation)

Here are a few snapshots of some of the better performances in Daytona last weekend.

FLORIDA FUTURES

Far be it for us to start the circus that comes with early evaluation and recruiting attention.  In that light just rest assured that there were plenty of promising young prospects in the gym that you’ll be hearing from in the years to come.  We don’t mind dropping a name or posting an image or two but there’s plenty of time for everyone to get bent out of shape and lose their concept of reality before these young players hit their stride.  NO player is ever a “lock” regardless of what potential they show at an early age.  Above are images and names of just three to keep an eye on..nothing more.  Common sense says to let time and Mother Nature do her thing and see where things go.  It will be worth the wait.
