John Anderson Division
In what may well have been one of the strongest line ups in this division’s history, the Academy of the Holy Cross (Md.) and La Jolla Country Day (Calif.) met in a well coached and competitive east – west final. Country day jumped out quickly behind a couple of three pointers from Malina Hood to lead by six after one quarter and still held on to a four point margin at the half. With both teams pressing and making use of their benches the third period saw the Torreys extend their lead to a 39 – 31 gap. The final period saw Coach Teri Bamford’s team extend the lead to 14 and take home the title. Senior Malina Hood finished with 21to lead the way for Country Day while standout junior guard Kelsey Plum added 16.

Mike Desper Division
In a battle of two regional Arizona teams, Mesa Mountain View got a stick back by junior Jordan Jensen with just 7.5 seconds remaining to take the lead and go on to a 51-47 win over Pinnacle. Mountain View had to overcome the scoring barrage of Pinnacle’s 5-9 junior guard Sydney Wiese who finished with 24 while wrapping up a high scoring tournament that included a 44 point opening round effort including seven three pointers.
Black Division
Adding another TOC title to the collection staying here in the Valley of the Sun, Chandler High School (Az.) got by an ultra athletic Mission Bay (Calif.) team to take the Black Division. Utilizing some impressive and intelligent backcourt play that led to an 18 – 5 third quarter scoring outburst, the Wolves posted a 69 – 56 final margin. Senior guards Simone Westbrook and Dezirae Elias along with junior Jesse Ossian led the way for Coach Zon Thompson’s squad.
Gray Division
Desert Vista (Az.) was the one Phoenix metropolitan area representative to come up short in their division final. Centennial, from Corona California, came out on top in a competitive and well played game. Desert Vista led by two after the first period but Centennial came back to lead by three both at the half and after the third. A decisive 23 – 15 fourth quarter gave the Huskies a 69 – 58 win. San Diego State signee Aleiah Brandon led the way with 18 for Centennial.
White Division
Bishop Alemany (Calif.) came out of the gate slow trailing Horizon (Colo.) by five after one quarter of play. However a 20 – 3 second quarter run gave them an 11 point halftime edge and a lead they wouldn’t give up the rest of the way. Impressive underclassman Breanna Calhoun and Hannah Johnson led the way with 20 and 18 respectively. Only four of Coach Bryan Camacho’s 14 player roster are members of the 2012 class.
